I just read an incredibly horrific story.
A man from Indiana wanted to teach his young kids how to kill so he made them kill the family cat. He has been sentenced to 18 months in prison after admitting he forced his 7-year-old daughter to stab the family cat to death.
During his sentencing he was “extremely sorry” for his actions. The judge in the case told him it wasn’t “civilized conduct.”
In exchange for a guilty plea on animal cruelty and two counts of neglect, prosecutors dropped three other felony charges against the 39-year-old man.
According to the ASPCA, in an affidavit filed Thursday in Delaware County alleges the man told his 11-year-old son and daughter he wanted them to “learn how to kill” and ordered them to kill the family’s pet cat. When the man went to the bathroom the older child hid the cat and took the knife and put ketchup over it to look like blood. The man got mad and then forced the younger child to stab the cat.
The siblings told police their father was drunk when they were dropped off for a visit at his Muncie residence, according to the affidavit. They said he is “a different person” when he’s drunk.
The are so many questions that come to my mind when I read about these things.
The scariest one is how many times do things like this happen and we never hear about it?
Why would a child need to know how to kill…..in Muncie, Indiana?
Why would someone think it’s okay to murder the family pet?
Why would they drop felony charges against this guy? I am not an expert but, I think the evidence was there to convict him. Now he’ll be out of jail in no time to hit the bottle again and repeat his actions.
Here is an idea…if you don’t like your cat take it to the humane society and give it to them.
