Yesterday, in an interview with reporters, a reporter asked John McCain how many houses he owns. Stumped, McCain replied
“I think — I’ll have my staff get to you.”
“It’s condominiums where — I’ll have them get to you,” he said. McCain is taking three days off to work on his strategy.
Aides said he had four houses, but PolitiFact.com said it totaled seven — the family ranch in Sedona, Arizona and condominiums mostly owned in the name of McCain’s wealthy wife Cindy. itself said the number was eight.
To the rest of us, 99% of the US no doubt, we are at minimum, amazed that anyone can not know how many homes they own. While we are in one of the worst housing markets ever, a mortgage crunch and horrendous foreclosures, here is a guy who doesn’t even know how many homes he owns.
This is a man who wants to be the next president of the United States. The representative of over 300 million people to the rest of the world.
Critics, many of whom are with his rival Barak Obama, say that McCain is out of touch with the American people. Obama’s camp is full steam ahead on bringing this out.
Is McCain out of touch? Will this be the deciding factor for many of us in a Presidential race that is at the momentarily neck to neck?
I kind of feel sorry for the guy since all that he has done for the country. But, feeling sorry for him may not be what will make for a good president.
