Have you ever wondered what it is like to be one of the popular people?
In the past week I have made over 300 friends thanks to Twitter.
These are the best kind of friends. They are people who you’ll never have to lend money to or offer to give a ride to.
Twitter is a place where people can post quick snippets. Usually, it’s about the first thing that comes to mind. Twitter offers a haven for people who have to share something that nobody they know would normally care about. You post it on Twitter and voila, it’s out of your mind.
On the other hand, Twitter can keep you company when you are working on your computer. All those Twitter friends are talking to you and you don’t have to respond or care if you do not want to. You’re popular yet, keeping to yourself.
There is no real vestment in Twitter other than what you want people to know. You can make up your own handle and just keep tabs on the rest of the world. If you really want to , you can actually make friends and converse with them. Twitter also gives you an outlet to promote your website or blog.
There are people on Twitter who enjoy it’s mobile use. If you are alone on a bus but, you want the other riders to know that you do indeed have friends, pull out your phone and text something to your Twitter. You can have Twitter updates sent to your phone so that everyone thinks your getting texts.
Unlike Facebook or MySpace, Twitter doesn’t come with gadgets to send bumper stickers or buttons to others and you can’t post pictures to inspire photo thievery or silly comments. However, I do have the Facebook Twitter gadget and I have joined a Twitter group. I was board one day.
I’ve gone so far as to install Digsby on my desktop. With Digsby I can keep tabs on my Twitter, Facebook, and instant messaging accounts while I work. I hope that I get some work done now.
