A couple of days ago, I wrote a post entitled “I am going to leave Sarah alone today”.
The post was written to point out how, in general, a lack of funding for sex education and the chosen ignorance of the reality of teenagers acting out by having sex is harmful.
This post was not specifically focused on Sarah Palin’s pregnant teen aged daughter.
The intent of the post was to point out how as Governor of Alaska, Palin made it known that she opposes funding sexual-education programs in Alaska.
“The explicit sex-ed programs will not find my support,” she wrote in a 2006 questionnaire distributed among gubernatorial candidates.
Palin’s daughter, like probably other teens in Alaska, was a victim of this policy. I’m going to guess that a single 17 year old girl did not plan to get pregnant.
I received a not so favorable comment that I have decided, at this time, to leave alone.
Bristol Palin’s obviously not relevant or fair game. The process that brought Sarah Palin to fame, however, is another matter.
The commenter also left a link to his own site, just as many spam-like spreaders do on the internet. There were several replies to this comment that were supportive of my post. Obviously, they read the entirety of it and understood it.
It’s a funny thing how all this week the accusations have been running pointing the finger at the Dems for going after Palin’s daughter. Yet, I have yet to hear or see any Dem actually do this. Maybe I missed something.
I’m wondering why nobody is talking about other issues such as the economy.
It seems like the economy affects 100% of Americans. Did the finger pointers not notice that many believe we are in a recession?
Just in the news of today there are these stories.
- The number of newly laid off workers seeking unemployment benefits jumped last week.
- Construction spending took a bigger-than-expected tumble in July as housing activity dropped to the lowest level in seven years and nonresidential activity fell for the first time in seven months.
- Back-to-school sales reports from retailers are dismal.
If you want to win an election by ‘wooing’ the people, don’t assume they are stupid and do not notice what’s going on. Do something to put your voters back to work and ease their credit problems.
If you are going to spread your links on my comment pages, don’t bother. I’m going to start deleting them.
