In case you missed it, Tine Fey returned to Saturday Night Live to do skit on Sarah Palin. While most of us were entranced by the similarity in appearance between Sarah Palin and Tina Fey, not much was said about the message of the skit.
The skit takes aim at Hilary Clinton’s hard work to become the Democratic nominee while Palin simply did not much. Two political females coming from two different places in search of the capitol.
While Clinton may be viewed as a some-what Washington insider, Palin is not. We don’t even know if she has ever been to DC. What we do know, is mostly what we’ve been told by her campaign, “she is a maverick, an outsider, etc”.
The voters have made a united voice in this effort. Our economy is in the midst of a fallout demonstrated by the daily news accounts concerning everything that has an affect on our wallet and retirement. We are in a war over something that we are specifically not totally sure about. We thought we were saving the world from terrorism and Bin Laden but, Bin Laden is thought to be hiding out in mountains in nowhere and terrorism continues. Public schools have had to dummy-up their cirriculum in order to show that students are doing better. “No child left behind” has become “no child gets ahead” in the eyes of many.
We are mad and we need a change. Finding the best person to institute this change has to be more about the changes and methods and less about what we are being told by their campaigns to actually think. We need to get past the pigs, lipstick, eyeglasses and bridges and focus on saving the country as a whole. This would include focusing on the facts and methods. After all, we aren’t stupid- I think…I hope.
