Remember JonBenet Ramsey? It has been 12 years since the 6-year-old girl was found dead in the basement of her home in Boulder, Colorado. To this day, nobody has been charged JonBenet’s death.
There have been many threories in this case from JonBenet’s mother punishing her for bed-wetting to an intruder or sexual predator. FBI lab results confirmed that a man, not yet identified, was near JonBenet’s long underwear. This DNA also was found in JonBenet’s underpants mixed with her blood. Otherwise, all that is known for sure is that Patsy Ramsey told police she awoke early December 26 and found a two-page, handwritten ransom note on a back staircase, which stated that JonBenet had been kidnapped by a “small foreign faction” and that she’d be executed if the Ramseys did not pay a $118,000 ransom. The Ramseys checked JonBenet’s room, discovered she was missing and immediately called 911.
Ramsey was exonerated in the 1996 murder of daughter JonBenét, based on DNA analysis from the crime scene, but John says he still can’t land a job, blaming negative press. The 64-year-old widower told the blog “The Daily Beast,” “Once your reputation is tarnished, it stays tarnished.”
At the time of his daughter’s death, Ramsey was worth an estimated $6.4 million. His earnings came from success as an entrepreneur, but it didn’t last. Ramsey sold the family’s three homes, personal plane, boat and luxury vehicles for extra cash.
John Ramsey now resides in remote Charlevoix, on Lake Michigan.
