Okay, I admit it, like most American’s I voted for him.
At at time of economic despair, a war gone bad, and some child’s being left behind in an effort to make it so that no child gets left behind, I needed HOPE.
And here HOPE came disguised as a partially white night following the American dream, arising from the middle class to lead the free world. Because, in America, you can, if you try hard enough.
For having the confidence to sketch an ambitious future in a gloomy hour, and for showing the competence that makes Americans hopeful he might pull it off, the President-elect is TIME’s Person of the Year.
