Wow. That was quick!
Yesterday, the wreckage of US Airways Flight 1549 was successfully lifted from the Hudson River. Amazingly, it only took several hours of work by crews in the frigid conditions.
What was found on the aircraft?
The flight data and cockpit voice recorders were both found intact. One engine remains in the river, one still is attached, according to investigators.
What will happen next?
Investigators will tow the plane on barge for further examination. I’d love to see a plane being towed down the streets of NYC.
Being a mom, I am always programmed to ask how things will get cleaned up before they are touched to be used. When I saw the plane land in the Hudson the other day, the first thing I thought was how the heck will they get that thing out of there (well, after I saw the passengers were oka of course).
This shows video of the plane actually landing in the Hudson.
