Just when you thought we were in to the new century and living the life of progress, ‘unbelievable’ stories seem to come out of nowhere.
Dear US Army, how would you like it if this happened to you?
The U.S. Army is apologizing to thousands of Army families who received letters beginning “Dear John Doe” after losing a loved one in Iraq or Afghanistan. How’s that for 2009 compassion?
Army Chief of Staff Gen. George W. Casey Jr. is sending a personal letter to the families who received the letter. He should be kissing their you know whats…. oh wait, there are too many you know whats to possibly kiss.
It seems that nearly 7,000 letters were sent in late December to notify families of services or gifts surviving family members can receive from nonprofit organizations that help families of fallen soldiers. The letters also had improper address information at the top of the correspondence. Instead of the receiving family’s name and home address, the letters said “Army Long Term Case Management.” DUH.
“There are no words to adequately apologize for this mistake or for the hurt it may have caused,” Brig. Gen. Reuben D. Jones, Army adjutant general, said in the statement. “It is important the original intent of the letter is not lost. The organizations mentioned are dedicated to honoring loved ones and recognizing their sacrifice and commitment,” the apology continued.
In 2009, there are still people killed at the stake for Witchcraft?
How is this for progress? A woman in rural Papua New Guinea was bound and gagged, tied to a log and set ablaze on a pile of tires this week. Why? Because villagers suspected her of being a witch. According to reports, a group of people dragged the woman, believed to be in her late teens to early 20s, to a dumping ground, stripped her naked, bound her hands and legs, stuffed a cloth in her mouth, tied her to a log and set her on fire.
Know when to call it a day and move on. Case in point, Joe the plumber.
Did anyone ever understand what made this stupid attempt at ‘publicity’ worth while in the first place? Well, now Joe The Plumber is said to becoming a reporter. Joe says that he is heading to Israel as a war correspondent for the conservative Web site pjtv.com. You know what- they can have him.
Finally, guess who wants in on the bailout wagon…Hustler and”Girls Gone Wild” owners seek $5 billion bailout.
Hustler’s Larry Flynt and “Girls Gone Wild’s” Joe Francis say it’s the adult entertainment industry’s turn for a bailout. The economy has hurt their businesses, too, and they want $5 billion from the government.
Congress must “rejuvenate the sexual appetite of America,” Flynt said.
Francis plans to bring the request to D.C. in person.
