For whatever reason, a woman’s virginity has been a heated issue for as long as women, or men, have been around. So much of it has to do with society, culture and ultimatly, how you were raised. In some cultures, a woman’s virginity may be worth a goat while in others it is entirely up to the woman.
“I honestly don’t know what they see in it,” she said.
“I feel people should be pro-choice with their body, and I’m not hurting anyone,” she said. “It really comes down to a moral and religious argument, and this doesn’t go against my religion or my morals. There’s no right or wrong to this.”
One expert on the issue says that about 95 percent of Americans have sex before they’re 25, But worldwide, virgin prostitutes can claim larger fees, certain cultures still attach larger dowries to virgin brides, and some women undergo reconstructive surgery to restore their hymens. OUCH!
There are people who would have no problem doing auctioning something like this off. Many of these people may be able to justify it with a good reason. If you had to pay for something, such as an illness of a family member or a college education, would you even consider doing this?

i think we put way too much store in virginity as it is. i dont think it should be such a big deal – young women should be encouraged to explore and enjoy their bodies safely and with the knowledge they need to prevent both disease and pregnancy.
I believe that we should make our own decisions based on our own beliefs while keeping disease and pregnancy prevention in mind.
Good post! I was sort of surprised when I saw the title… ;)…but I’m glad I came here and read this.
I can’t wait to see what others think on this issue.
Have a Beautiful Day!!
surgery to restore your hymen- that is just weird!
I heard about it and I thot it was interesting that such a thing is still sacred and valued by most men! I think that the connotation of being the 1st to an unadulterated “hole” -sorry for the bluntness but there is no other way to describe it- is just priceless! Men don’t get that much around this day and age anymore. Like most ancient treasures, it’s rarity makes it way too valuable! don’t you agree?
Nonetheless, she’s smart for making good money out of it! Real trooper! lol.
It would be ideal to keep it until marriage but honestly, nowadays, do you know of any virgins in existence?
lol! Good for her. If I still had such a commodity, I might consider it for a good cause.
I just don’t know what to think of this. Yes her body is hers, but….I don’t know how to put into words how this makes me feel or what I feel about this story…but deeply I feel it is wrong…but really I am not surprised by it at all!!

I totally read this on CNN earlier today. How ridiculous?! Although a teeny little part of me thought, “Hm, $3.8 mil…”
Visiting from Ann’s VGNO! Hope you’re having a fun girls night!! Enjoy the weekend 🙂
Hmmm. This has a debate running through my own mind so I can see it being a debatable issue. While I do believe a woman has a right to lose her virginity when she wants, if I had a daughter it would be my hope that she waited until she found love. Now, that may sound old fashioned but that is what I wish I had done. That said if I were a virgin and could make that much money and especially if it were desperately needed (family illness) or something, I am not sure what I would do.
