A couple advertised that they were selling their pet cockatoo for $1,500.
A woman answered the ad saying that she wanted to buy the bird. She told the sellers that she was taking care of three children whose biological parents were going through a separation.
The biological mother was not involved in the alleged trade.
The alleged child seller told the bird sellers that her job as a truck driver made it hard to take care of the children. The parties allegedly negotiated a trade involving the two kids, the bird and $175.
An anonymous tipster contacted authorities after the children began living with the bird sellers.
A woman, of color, received this in her e-mail from a mayor!
Mayor, what were you thinking?
The mayor has resigned and sent an apology for an e-mail sent to a local businesswoman and community volunteer that she says is racist and offensive.
According to the woman who received this email,
“I was horrified when I read that e-mail,” Price said. “What I’m concerned about is how can this person send an e-mail out like this and think it is OK?”
The mayor said;
“It was just poor judgment on my part, and I am deeply sorry,” he said. “It wasn’t meant to hurt her.”
The caption below the e-mail picture depicting the White House lawn planted with watermelons was “No Easter egg hunt this year.”
