On the same day singer Chris Brown was arraigned for allegedly beating girlfriend Rihanna, he made an appeal to fans on his Myspace page: Vote for me for the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards. Does this guy not get it?
Shame on you!
Despite growing outrage on parent blogs,,Web sites and everywhere else, and an online petition to have Brown removed from contention, his name will remain on the ballot for the popular Kids’ Choice Awards, which airs March 28 on Nickelodeon.
That’s right– Nickelodeon is keeping him on! For our kids to see him!
“Like all our KCA nominees, Chris Brown was nominated by kids several months ago based on his work as a performer, and the kids who vote will ultimately decide who wins in the category,” Nickelodeon said in a statement sent to ABCNews.com.
Among her guests were Robin Givens and Denise Brown. In an emotional interview, Behar examines how domestic abuse starts and why it’s hard to stop.

We are apalled that Chris Brown and Rhianna are still listed as a nominees on the Nickelodeon Kid’s Choice Awards show. Brown’s name should have been removed from contention the moment the charges were filed. Making things worse is that his victim, Rhianna, also a nominee, refused a no-contact order and plans to continue the relationship in spite of a violent attack by Brown. Had she made the rational decision to accept the no-contact order and end the relationship, she would not be named in this petition!
While we don’t think public figures are expected to always act responsibly in the name of being a role-model, this situation is unacceptable on both sides. To say that either of these people setting a suitable example to be held up as “winners” is preposterous.
