I must say I am a bit shocked and feel a bit guilty.
A heavy winter snowstorm is creeping its way up the Eastern Seaboard this morning.
Over the weekend the storm had dumped up to 11 inches of snow in parts of the southern US. Now Boston is facing up to 15 inches of snow according to the National Weather Service.
Living in the Midwest, we have faced a cruel winter this year with ice and snow storms topped off with cold temps. Many of the people in the south were saying “Wow, too bad for the Midwest, glad I don’t live there”. Facing winter every year tends to make us a hardy bunch that learns how to adjust and deal with things.
To be honest with you, we may hit 30 today but, that’s fine for us. 30, with sun, means a lighter jacket. We can still go to work, school and take walks. If it were to snow, big deal. The plow would be by in an hour sprinkling salt from it’s backside.
Winter storm warnings are issued from North Carolina to New Hampshire. Most areas expected to see 8 to 12 inches of snow and higher amounts possible in northern areas. About 300 flights scheduled to fly in or out of Newark Liberty International Airport had already been canceled by late last night. Philadelphia declared a Code Blue weather emergency, giving officials the power to go out onto the streets and bring in homeless people to shelters because the weather conditions pose a threat of serious harm or death.
Our streets and sidewalks haven’t seen snow for a few weeks. The birds are returning and making noise like they know what’s coming up in their near future. Life goes on.
