I turned 21 on the day they changed the drinking age from 19 to 21 in Chicago. Funny thing was I had been imbibing for a year or 2 already and when I suggested the bartender buy me a drink for my birthday, he wanted to kick me out for “deceiving” him for a year or 2 prior. But he had never asked me for an ID before that night!

My son will 21 on Aug 31.Amazing that,considering I just turned 29 for the..10th! time back in Feb! lol! He’s planning to do the usual bar hop (yawn) and get toasted. I spose he should take advantage of it,not too many times strangers want to buy your drinks,least if you’re a guy! On my “real” 21st,I had been married for almost 3 years,and the now ex hubby took me out to dinner,and,boozing…yippie it was legal.I was serenaded by a local group with the song “Why Dont We Get Drunk and Screw”. I think I was sung Happy Birthday to also,I cant recall now,since I was sooo embarrassed by the Screw song lol! All I can say is it was memorable,and I didnt get too toasty,cos I remember the whole night! =D
I hope our kids’ 21st bdays are memorable and safe too!

Ahhh…21. Happy birthday to your son. I’m sure he will have the time of his life.
I remember when I turned 21, they didn’t even ask for my ID. Actually, they ask more now with all the tighter laws.
