Is this your car? Has it been stolen?
The Highway Loss Data Institute just came out with new statistics about the cost of theft of cars. This means the rate at which people file insurance claims for theft insurance. Some people interpret this as which cars have theft claims filed the most.
They found that the rate at which people file insurance claims for theft is highest for versions of the 2007-09 Cadillac Escalade, a luxury SUV, followed by the Ford F-250 crew pickup, Infiniti G37 luxury car, and Dodge Charger with a HEMI engine. Theft rates for these vehicles are 3 to 5 times as high as the average for all vehicles.
Almost 1 of every 4 Escalade theft claims is for $40,000 or more. These vehicles are equipped with standard antitheft ignition immobilizers that are supposed to prevent them from being started without a proper key.

According to the institute, the top-ten car-criminal favorites, along with their “theft claim frequency” per 1,000 vehicles, are :

Lowest Losers
11. Volvo S80 .8
12. Saturn VUE 4WD (2008-09) .8
13. Nissan Murano (2009).7

Okay I’m wondering here what else you could do with that cherry? LOL And did you use invisible ink for questions 7 thru 13? hmmm I would have thought you would have been blogging a lot longer than 2 years. Good thing I can’t afford an Escalade. Why would anyone want to steal a gas hog. Oh yeah, parts!!!

thanks for sharing the info, cool data, when i buy vehicle, i probably dont want to buy the ones that have high rating of being stolen. insurance will probably jack up to the roof for those cars with high risk of being stolen

Harriett now I know why I’m glad I bought a BMW. none on that list, thank the car protection god. but then again, who wants to steal a red car anyway ? I’ve been told that red cars have more tickets, accidents and are stolen more often. none of the above seems true in my case as I get looks from cops, but to be honest they’re more flirty than “come here let me ticket you slow rolling sportscar driving blue haired hiphop granny”.
yeah when you drive and burn premium gas, you roll slow and coast alot (wink*wink) telling that lie about it being good for the environment. yeahhhhh righttttt,,, I’m tryin to ease up on my pocket, tires and I could care less about that slow person behind me, because I’m in the slow lane cruising like a granny all the time since this car came into my wallet. and yes I do mean walllllllllllllll- ettttttttttttttt. (side-eye)
OMG I now know why folks in escalades look at me like that when they pass me. wowwwwww,,, untheftable envy. and yes my car has an electronic ignition and special $197.00 Key. yes I said A single key costs $197.00 and I bought two fresh ones when I got my car. escalade keys cost $25.00 and they think that they’re getting a deal, yeahhh riiiiiiiiiiiiteee.
At least they’re mostly stealing American. Reminds me of a scene from a movie from the 80s/early 90s…can’t remember the title…but there’s a scene where the dad is schooling his son in the art of boosting cars and says, “Always steal American. The owners are more likely to buy American again.”

I’m still puzzled by why my linky looks so different to me. I looked on hubby’s computer using Int. Explorer and it’s off there too, no numbers for the linky. I’ve looked on my computer using Moz FF and it doesn’t look like it does on your page. When I see them on other pages they look like yours. Very puzzled.

My car is not on the list! But, I do have family that drive Escalades. I wonder if they know this?
Doesn’t look like Toyota made the list, but they used to be way up there (the Camry) probably because they made so many of them during the early 2000′s. Mine isn’t on the list cuz no one wants it! LOL
