My Top Five Addictions of the Year (so far)
I have a theory….everybody has an ‘addiction’ to something.
The internet. While I can justify this addiction being that I actually have a job- that pays- thanks to the internet, the truth is, I cannot live with out it. I use email instead of talking on the phone. I Google everything I want to know more about- from addresses to hours of operation. I bank online. I shop online. I even have my posse of people I’ll probably never meet in person- all online.
I have become addicted to running in the morning. As long as there is no ice and the lightening isn’t heavy, I’m out there. I like rain- it keeps the schleps off of the sidewalks (what a pain to have to have to pull my dogs over every time there is someone on a sidewalk).
I really love yoga. Thanks to yoga, I can quickly get up to use the girls room in a pinch after drinking 3 Coke Zeros in a row while sitting in my chair for a couple of hours. Most people my age need many ibuprofen’s or a thumbtack to conquer this feat.
Milk chocolate. I taste it and I think about it at the oddest hours. It’s like porn for my taste buds. I need a milk chocolate bar every day. The problem is that I am sensitive to sugar so I need to eat my chocolate with sugar substitutes such as malitol- the ingredient putting Ex-lax out of business.
This wacky trial going on right now. I have it on in the background while I am working. I don’t really listen to everything. Why bother listening to everything when you know CNN is going to hash it all out over and over again for the next 12 hours? I’ve got my opinions- the first being how grateful I am for NOT having a daughter like the one in question and the second being how grateful I am to NOT have been sequestered in this one.
And so, those are my addictions at the moment…..
