Why do hotels think they can charge an internet fee?
One thing that I like about going to Orlando, which I do more than never, is that the hotel love to give you a deal. Stuff like free happy hours, meals and internet.
On the downside, when I go somewhere else, I get zilch. Which makes me really only want to go to Orlando.
It seems like the hoity toitier that hotel, the more fees they find to charge you (like airlines…).
I’m not the only one who has noticed this.
According to the J.D. Power and Associates 2010 North America Hotel Guest Satisfaction Index Study, wireless Internet access is one of the top five “must-have” amenities for hotel guests. What’s the big deal? Get a freakin’ router and hook up with someone who’ll give you great bandwith for under $100 a month. Think of all the people you drive away when you don’t provide internet.
CNN asked– So why do many upscale and luxury hotels ask guests to pay extra for the privilege?
The answer is simple: Because they can, experts said.
And they keep doing it because people keep paying for it!
grrrr…. That’s so 2002 if you ask me. Come on- just give it away. It won’t be too long till it’s free all over anyway (in some countries it already is!).
