I hate when I’m in the middle of something and then I get lost on a tangent only to find my way back to what I was doing 30 minutes later. Yesterday I signed into blogger, I’m really more of WordPress person these day, and I saw the list of blogs that I have followed along the way. I poked around a few of them wondering what ever happened to these blogs and the people behind them. This got me wondering, how long have I been blogging?
According to Blogger, where this site originated, my first blog post was on August 3rd 2008. I have been officially blogging this site for 4 years. I have seen a lot of people and blogs come and go. There have been a lot of trends in blogging, looks of the blogs, and the way bloggers interact with one another.
The change that I see most is that I think that interaction has suffered thanks to Google depreciating Google friends with what seems to be the not so popular Google Circles. Now feedburner is on the brink.
What kind of changes have you seen since you started blogging?
How it Works
• On the linky below, enter your name and what you are linking to. For example, Posh-GFC, Mel-Twitter
• If you have more than one page to link to, go ahead and post them all separately.
• Linking to a giveaway post specifically is viewed as spam, and as such, will be deleted just as spam will.
• Under 100 GFC Followers? Under 200 Twitter? Under 200 Facebook Page likes? Under 50 in your circle? Please add “low” next to your name so we know to help you out!
• YES, you can link to your hop. You may want to add “linky” next to it.
• Make a goal to visit 5 others, like/friend them, and then leave a comment telling them hello.
• Feel free to list “comment” on your entry (as long as it is NOT for a giveaway of course)
• NEW- Would you be interested in a Blog Frog community hop? Leave me a comment letting me know!
***TIP: Blogger Users- The changes to the blogger word verification has made it difficult for others to post comments. Turn off your word verification and you’ll most likely get more comments! ***
Thanks for joining us!
I think the biggest change I’ve seen is the ebb and flow – old blogs I used to visit all the time are gone, or haven’t had a post in a couple of years, and a rash of newbies flexing their brand new blogging muscles. 🙂 I’ve been blogging the same amount of time as you – glad you’re still around for the long haul. 😉
And I’m still mad at Google for taking away Google Friend Connect from those of us who aren’t doing our blogs on Blogger.com. Hmmmph.
Have a great weekend, Harriet! 🙂
Oh my this is a loaded question. The tides keep changing with blogging. I think the personal blogs moved along to review/giveaway blogging. Now it seems like people are more focused on reviving the retro style from 5 or so years ago.
Gosh, I don’t know, mostly the blogs that come and go, and the big sweeping move to WordPress, I would say. I’m still on Typepad myself, but I’ve been thinking about moving, too!

Yes Google seems to keep putting a damper on things 🙁 But one thing that remains is the good connections that I have made!!
I’ve been blogging as long as you and I’ve seen the come and goings or just dead blogs too. It’s odd.
Changes..I’ve seen too many changes. I remember how networking with blogs were so good and now , no comments at all. If you aren’t on facebook or have a 3word thing to post, then you don’t count 🙂
Happy weekend.
I agree with the interaction. You just don’t see it a lot anymore.
The give-aways have changed big time. The ones with 1,000’s of entries I just pass by how are you possibly going to win the one with 840,034 entries??? I don’t even waste my time. The ones with sign up for my e-mails? What so I can have over a 1,000 emails to go through instead of over 500. It takes me a good 15 minutes or more just to through out the garbage email or the ones I don’t read so I can read the email that’s important. Sheesh I gotta clean that up! Have a great weekend. Great question.
I have to say all the changes that have happened Google Friends has been the worst for me. I feel so lost now that I’m back.
