fema volunteer

Do you enjoy doing volunteer work? Is there anywhere you volunteer right now?

I’ve done a lot of volunteer work in my life.
From volunteering as a nurse to volunteering as a band or PTA parent.
You know that volunteering pays off when you walk away from it thinking about the next time you show up to do it. You plan out new ideas in your mind. You think about some of the people you have touched along the way. You are in some kind of a ‘volunteer high’.

It’s time to move on, no matter how much you have done or have to do, when you start to think about the money you are not making while volunteering. “I’m not getting paid to do this” translates into “I’m not getting paid to be here”. When money becomes more important than the high you once felt, it’s time to move on.

Moving on doesn’t mean that you are a failure.
Moving on means that you have done what you can while noting that as one person, it is impossible to change the problems in the world. There will, unfortunately, always be problems in the world. This is why you should never not volunteer if you get the chance to volunteer.

Okay, well, that was a bit confusing…

As for myself a “volunteering high” doesn’t occur. I just do my job and go home. I’m not discouraged since it’s plainly obvious one person can do what one person can do… The consumer part of it is another story.
    Aloha :)
