My pack of four loves it when I make them treats.
I like to make my own treats rather than buying them because I like to know exactly what is in those treats.
Honey Oatmeal and Peanut Butter Dog Treats
This is a favorite for my pack.
What you will need
- 1 cup of oats
- 2 cups of flour- wheat is best, sometimes I will mix flours
- 1/2 cup of corn meal
- 1 egg
- 1 cup of broth- I will use chicken bullion
- 1/2 cup of creamy peanut butter (it’s okay to use the crunchy stuff)
- 2 tablespoons of honey
How to make this
- Preheat your oven to 350 and prep your cookie pans for nonstick.
In a large bowl, combine your dry ingredients- flour, oats, and meal.
Stir in your egg and then add your peanut butter and honey.
Add about 1/4th of your broth and try to form the mix into a ball. At some point, I will start using my hands to do this. If your mix is having trouble sticking together, add more 1-2 tablespoons of broth. You want to be able to form a ball that will be about 90% formed.
You probably will not need your full cup of broth- this batter needs to be a bit dry for best results.
Roll your mix out if you will be using a cookie cutter otherwise, form your cookies and place them on the cookie pan.
Bake for 25-30 minutes or until they turn golden brown.
Allow to cool before serving to your fur-babies.
