Saturday 9: Somebody That I Used to Know

1. How do you feel when you realize that an impasse will cause a relationship (any type) to end?
Huh?

2. You’re planning a trip that would be an eight-hour car ride, a four-hour train ride, or a two-hour plane ride. With money and time being no object, which would you most likely choose and why?

Car because from here, an 8 hour car ride is probably equal to a 10 hour plane ride. Plus, I’d bring my dogs.

3. What is your ideal past time on a lazy summers day?
Fall asleep in my pool. Halleluiah

4. Name a CD you own that no one else on your friends list does.
What friends list? I’m like old. I don’t think I have a ‘friends list’ and if I did, I would never even care or notice what CD’s my ‘friends’ have.

5. What’s a wish of yours?
Rid the midsection.

6. What is something your going to do a lot of this week?
This week is just ended. Next week I’m gonna do a lot of …wondering what I’m gonna do a lot of probably.

heeheeeheeheee…. since the Queen of Alaska has pretty much done that, how about if we just strap someone to the top of a car and let nature take it’s course. Then we can tell everyone that he loved it .. Totally

Slept. I go to bed early.

9. Where is the next place you’d like to go vacation?
I’m going to Rhode Island on business in a few weeks. Does that count? I’ll be alone in a hotel room sleeping in the center of the bed and not worrying about the bathroom or laundry. sounds like a vaca to me.

More about Facebook addiction….

We all know someone (or maybe are someone?) who spends what we would define as ‘way too much time’ on facebook.

Researchers call it an addiction and say that now there is a test to see if you are one of the addicted.

The test, called the Bergen Facebook Addiction Scale, is based on six basic criteria, where all items are scored on the following scale: (1) Very rarely (2) Rarely (3) Sometimes (4) Often and (5) Very often. The signs are:

• You spend a lot of time thinking about Facebook or plan use of Facebook.

• You feel an urge to use Facebook more and more.

• You use Facebook to forget about personal problems.

• You have tried to cut down on the use of Facebook without success.

• You become restless or troubled if you are prohibited from using Facebook.

• You use Facebook so much that it has had a negative impact on your job/studies.

Me, Facebook is so 5 years ago for me.
I’m rarely on there other than to promote something. I don’t understand people who think the whole world is on Facebook and thus, will only communicate with you via Facebook. What a pain. I never check those messages. I just value my time too much to potty it away on Facebook. Luckily, there are a lot of ways to not have to be on Facebook to promote stuff.

Would you buy a share of Facebook?
I’m gonna say no.
Facebook shares go on sale this Friday. They say that anyone, like us for example, can buy some. Here is how to do it. I would buy some if I thought Facebook had the potential to grow even bigger. However, I have to wonder, just how much bigger can Facebook actually get? Adding to that, how much bigger can they get without ticking off even more people enough to kill the whole thing? Every time they get bigger, they do something to tick us off….privacy issue….time lines…

Aubry got the axe? Whoaaa…… I always thought it would come down to her and Lisa. I never would have thought the two nice guys would be the lone survivors. I’m talking about the Celebrity Apprentice if you are a non-viewer. This is actually the one network TV show that I’ll watch.

A few people but, I can just move on.

The Rear Window has been on cable a lot lately. I have seen it like a bajillion times so, yes I would recommend it.

23. Would you rather have roommates or live alone?
I’m not sure if pets fall into the roommate side of the live alone side of this question. So, if I could live alone with my dogs that would be my answer.

24. Do you like any of your friends a little more than just a friend? Then they would not be my friend. I don’t need any more energy soakers/dramanastics in my life.

I really don’t do ‘current’. I’m old. I’ll stick to the classics. This doesn’t smell like a stolen question.

27. If you found out that you were going to be a parent, what would you do? If you are one, tell us what the best parent of being a parent is. I’d name the kid Jesus cause it would be immaculate….

Best part beyond diaper changing, sick kids, having to discipline, paying for college when they’re on the six year plan, breaking up fights, the broken furniture, the thought of never getting to be a grand parent, cleaning up the messes…wait it’s mother’s day. Ignore all that.

No- I’m an ex-psych/rehab nurse. I know better.

Vegas. Done the Miami thing.

Let’s just say…it’s not the number one thing that I worry about. To make a long response short, there’s a lot of people who need to tend to their glass houses….

Honey, I’ll always have Jose and Baja Bob on a Saturday. No worries here.

Get rid of the damn couches in my family room, possibly blow up a few things (heeeheeehee), and stuff my fat face. Oh, and rack up some major bills.

No. Before all of the tanning crud hit the fan, we use to use sunlamps. I’ve heard too many creepy things about those beds as well.

The latest controversy it seems is this Time magazine cover.

Mom says that she was breast fed until she was 6 years old.

The article related to the picture focuses on the 20th anniversary of a book about “attachment parenting”. The theory is that the more time you can spend as close as possible with your kids, the better. Having a strong attachment with parents, according to researchers, can make a more settled adult.

I’m all for breast feeding and I’m all for spending time with my children…while they were growing up. I breast fed until they gave it up (1 & 2 years) and I gave up my career to spend time with them at home. I love my children but, they are now adults and feel absolutely no pressure to move out. I’m not complaining- it’s affordable and it’s giving them a chance. I’m just wondering if I had breast fed until they turned 6, would they even leave the house as adults (get a job….go to college…)? Don’t know.

The driving force behind Mother’s Day was Anna Jarvis,

who organized observances in Grafton, W.Va., and Philadelphia on May 10, 1908. As the annual celebration became popular around the country, Jarvis asked members of Congress to set aside a day to honor mothers.

Stay-at-Home Moms

Number of stay-at-home moms in 2011-5 million

— same as in 2010 and down from 5.1 million in 2009 and 5.3 million in 2008 (the estimates for 2010 and 2009 are not statistically different). In 2011, 23 percent of married-couple family groups with children under 15 had a stay-at-home mother, up from 21 percent in 2000. I recently had to use my laptop as my main source of work while I waited for my desktop replacement to show up. While I had no problem with having to use it, there was one thing that drove me nuts.

Last week was kind of not the best for me. While it wasn’t one specific big thing gone wrong, it was a combination of a bunch of small things.

Amazon sent me 2 of the wrong dog leashes (grrrrrrr…), the girl at Walmart failed to give me my entire order (not something you notice until you go looking for something when you are unpacking, and a few other ‘why am I getting crapped on things’ things happened.

The cherry on the sundae, of course, was getting the letter on Friday to be called in for jury duty. I didn’t even have to open the darn thing to know that it would be for the same dates that I just booked a business-related flight for over $800 (yes, I would probably be able to get reimbursed…I hope). So, now I have to call over there to to see if I can get dragged in some other wonderful time this summer to fulfill my civic duty. I did send those leashes back.

Do you get emails or comments from people that obviously have not fully thought through what the purpose is of their email/comment? Who has time to answer those things? Do people have nothing better to do besides prove to the world how unsmart they can be?

And in more good news…
a report in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine says by 2030 42% of us will be considered obese. Is it time to play big brother and police people or should we just redefine obese so that only 5% of use fit the definition?

I’m always using more than one browser at a time for various reasons. My favorite browser is Chrome. I also like to use Firefox. Both have their pluses and minuses.
