A freakin’ Fly who has been harassing me for 2 days. I have offered $20 on Twitter and Facebook to anyone who can kill the ….thing.

My favorite method of fly-kill is the Windex method (and I’m normally NOT a violent person- PETA People- I’ve done many nice posts on your behalf). Windex makes for an easy clean-up. I can’t use Windex right now because I’m sitting at my really nice Cherry wood dining room table. I may want to use the table one day.

Who does this???

A four year old girl was found dead and she weighed only 15 pounds. Media reports say that she apparently had been tied to a crib. The police are investigating the death of the  Brooklyn girl. She had suffered severe health problems since birth, the authorities said.

Detectives also discovered marks on the girl’s ankles that appeared consistent with twine that was found tied to the foot railing of a small bed in her mother’s bedroom, where the girl was found.

The police said they did not know whether the girl’s weight was the result of malnourishment or her health condition. The girl was born prematurely and had been hospitalized most of her life  Among her afflictions, the girl had undersized lungs and had a tube inserted in her trachea, the police said. The girl’s mother told detectives that she checked on her daughter at 6:30 that (Thursday) morning and found her unresponsive and with cold hands. She told investigators she tried to revive the girl unsuccessfully and called 911 about 45 minutes later, the police said

Hang in there Michael Douglas

Michael Douglas, 65 (can you believe it?),   recently revealed his diagnosis  a stage four cancer of the throat. He says that he has an 80 percent chance of beating it. Douglas told People magazine: “I’ll beat this.”

Catherine Zeta Jones says that his chances of beating the cancer are reduced because it was only diagnosed three weeks ago after months of seeking  a cause for persistent throat and ear pain.  Awalnut-sized tumor was discovered on the base of his tongue in early August, the couple said.
“He sought every option and nothing was found. I knew something was up. He knew something was up,” Zeta-Jones told the US weekly, adding: “It makes me furious they didn’t detect it earlier.”
Douglas was more philosophical about how soon he was diagnosed, saying: “Without having to blame anybody… these things sometimes just don’t show up.”

Have you heard about the trapped miners in Chili?

The scoop is that they won’t be getting out for possibly months!

There are 33 trapped Chilean miners who have been trapped 2,300 feet underground since a rockslide cut off their exit route on August 5. They say that  drillers could take three to four months to reach the subterranean chamber, Chilean authorities have estimated.
Humans can survive in extreme environments, such as the 540-square-foot space the men share. But this kind of prolonged confinement with darkness, crowding and lack of sanitation can take a heavy physical toll.
The Chilean government has drilled holes large enough to send a video conferencing camera, small amounts of food and water, and oxygen down to the men. There is a room off to the side for ‘taking care of business’.

Reporters say that the men seem to be in good spirits.

Having said all that, my question(s) for you would be,

One good thing about living in the Midwest, is that we don’t have to fear the wrath of the almighty hurricane.

Unlike our friends on the east coast who will be having some unwelcome weather this holiday weekend.

Seems like yesterday they were forecasting maybe high waves for Earl but, opinions have changed as Hurricane Earl battered the Caribbean with heavy rain and winds Monday before intensifying into a major Category 4. The storm is on a path projected to menace the United States. Already dangerous with sustained winds of 135 mph (215 kph), Earl is expected to gain more strength before potentially brushing the U.S. East Coast this week and bringing deadly rip currents.
The U.S. National Hurricane Center in Miami warned coastal residents from North Carolina to Maine to watch the storm closely.

Does anyone still use Myspace?
Just asking because it seems as if they are waving a white flag with the folks at Facebook.
MySpace recently redecorated itself to look more like Facebook. Now they are allowing users to sync their posts to Facebook, too.
That means people on Facebook can see their friends’ MySpace items without leaving Facebook. MySpace users will also be able to share music, videos, game applications, links and photos across both social networking sites. So, why even have MySpace any more? Oh, I know- Thom (not my site-stalker Thom- the other one.)

Syncing with Facebook is easy to set up:

·  Click on the settings box in the update module on your homepage (it’s to the left of the Share button)

·  Check the box next to Facebook or Twitter (or both!)

·  Follow the steps prompted to sync your accounts

·  Done! Your updates will now automatically sync.

Users continue to have the option to sync to Twitter as well. Once you’ve synced your Facebook account, simply update your status on MySpace as you normally would (from your homepage, status and mood page, or mobile phone). When you update your status on MySpace, it will then be shared with friends on Facebook.

This new sync functionality is part of an ongoing effort to make it simple for people to share their updates beyond MySpace and allow fans and friends to interact with that content across the web.

So, why do a random act of kindness?

According to a study on the NIH, happy people become happier through kindness. Do you want to be happy? Then do some random acts of kindness.

The researchers studied the relationship between the character strength of kindness and subjective happiness , and the effects of a counting kindnesses intervention on subjective happiness. Of course, the study was conducted in Japan however, why wouldn’t it be relative where you live?

Results of the study showed that:

Happy people scored higher on their motivation to perform, and their recognition and enactment of kind behaviors.

Happy people have more happy memories in daily life in terms of both quantity and quality.

Subjective happiness was increased simply by counting one’s own acts of kindness for one week.

Happy people became more kind and grateful through the counting kindnesses intervention. Discussion centers on the importance of kindness in producing subjective happiness.

Why do I want to be happy? Will it make me live longer?
Yep, says Science Daily. One study says that happiness has positive coronary effects.

I’m not naming names or anything, but, if you want attention because everyone has pretty much figured that you are an uneducated idiot with falling ratings and Gold advertisers to please, then hijack an important event that you have nothing to do with and claim it’s all on behalf of patriotism (as it exists in your definition).

#3. Become an ex-con heiress with all kinds of issues and a shoe line and get caught for an “for alleged cocaine possession”. What sucks is that she almost could have roomed with her pal Lindsey.

#4. Be the Arizona man who put a baby in a freezer (no dear, I’m not making this stuff up). Oh wait, cops say this dude was on meth- that’s different from crack isn’t it?

#5. Get into a fight at a crummy yard sale. They say a a 70-year-old man hit another man over the head with a cornbread pan while the two were trying to get access to the sale items.

She drugged and stuffed a baby tiger in her over-sized bag to smuggle into Iran.

First of all lady, are you on crack?


Having said that, the scoop is that authorities at Bangkok’s international airport found a baby tiger cub that they say had been drugged and hidden alongside a stuffed toy tiger in the suitcase of a woman flying from Thailand to Iran. Why the heck would you go to Iran?

The  Thai national, had checked in for her flight and her overweight bag was sent for an X-ray which showed what appeared to be a live animal inside, according to TRAFFIC, a wildlife trade monitoring group. Cruella DeVille was of course arrested.

Reports say that the cub, estimated to be about 3 months old, was sent to a wildlife conservation center in Bangkok.

“He appeared exhausted, dehydrated and couldn’t walk, so we had to give him oxygen, water and lactation,” said a spokesperson “We have monitored him closely. As of today, he looks better and can walk a little now.”

Cruella  faces up to four years in prison and a 40,000 baht ($1,300) fine for two wildlife smuggling-related charges, police said. $1300 and up to 4 years? She’s freakin’ lucky she wasn’t caught in a country that, for instances, stones women.
